Silver leaf (Aluminum) is a lightweight but resistant metal. Its silvery metallic appearance is due to the thin surface layer of oxidation that forms rapidly in contact with air. The metal is a physical protective barrier to corrosion or further oxidation and is not soluble in water.
They are not sensitive to UV rays, humidity, or temperature; however, we recommend that they be stored closed in their original packages, away from direct sunlight, at room temperature (recommended 18-23 C°), above all because of the constant presence of polluting agents in the air and situations particularly aggressive even for aluminium.

You can use any gold leaf size, including Permacoll or Kolner Aqua Gilding.
- When using imitation metal leaf, it is best to use Gilder’s Gloves or Kolner Instacoll Tissue to avoid leaving fingerprints on the metal leafs, as they will show up later after applying the sealer.
- Use the gilder’s mop/duster to buff off the redundant flakes of the surface.
