Imitation gold leaf on rolls is used to gild lines and large surfaces, such as walls, picture frames, and long stripes on vehicles and architectural buildings. The gold leaf is pressed onto a tissue paper roll.
The 24K gold leaf is used for exterior gilding to prevent oxidation, and varnish is unnecessary when using this gold leaf type. You can gild with any carat for the interior, but gilding with less than 24k or imitation gold leafs on roll must be protected with varnish to avoid oxidation.
