Learn how to gild with imitation gold leaf. Imitation metal leaf refers to all non-gold and silver metal alloys. Imitation metal is a brass alloy of copper and zinc, except for a leaf of pure aluminium. These metals have many different names: Imitation Gold or Silver, Composition Gold, Brass Leaf, Schlag Metal, and Dutch Metal. All of them are intended for indoor use and must be protected with a coating against oxidation (except metal leaf made of pure aluminium).
