Gilder’s brush with natural wood handle. This soft wool brush is used to gently paint-like on the back of the transfer leaf to release the gold off the transfer paper. A standard brush might scratch the transfer paper, thus scratching the gold surface.
Some gilders find the Instacoll Tissue more effective because it allows for gentle pressing, enabling them to feel the contours of the gilded surface and thus apply force where needed.
Old-school gilders prefer using Cotton Yarn to release the gold from the tissue paper instead of a brush; the cotton is very soft and more affordable.
