Dextrin dissolves instantly and with a bit of water because of its greater adhesive strength and fluidity. Great for use on paper and cardboard
Yellow dextrin is an excellent binding agent for sand cores in foundry operations. It gives the high green bond strength necessary for the mould to remain intact during handling.
As dextrin does not easily react with chemicals, it is specifically suitable for use in the textile field. In Textile printing, it is used as a thickener. Free of grit and other impurities, which usually accompany lower grades of starch, it ensures that the copper rolls (used in printing) do not suffer from abrasion.
In sizing, it is used with starch to increase adhesiveness. In finishing, it gives the desired feel to the fabrics.
Dextrin finds a unique application in dry distemper. When mixed with chalk and pigment, five to ten % of dextrin acts as a carrier and ensures good adhesion of the color to the wall.
