Kölner Miniatum Gel is a pasty adhesive designed for applying gold leaf and metal leaf to flexible surfaces. It works exceptionally well on parchment, paper, canvas, plastic, and leather.
The result is a beautiful 3D gilding effect, where light reflects off the gold leaf from multiple angles.
You can apply this adhesive using a brush (preferably with stiff bristles), a painter’s knife, or small spatulas. After applying the gel, you can start gilding after a minimum of 3 hours, depending on the thickness of the layer. For the best results, apply the genuine gold leaf within 72 hours and the metal (composition/imitation) leaf within 12 hours.
If the Miniatum Gel dries out and the gold leaf no longer adheres, you can reactivate it using a hairdryer.
