What types of gold leafs are there?
There are two different types of gold leafs: genuine gold leafs and imitation gold leafs. The imitation gold leafs are made from mixed alloys such as zinc, copper, and aluminium, which makes them toxic and harmful. Therefore, they are not to be consumed by humans.

However, these types of genuine gold leafs are made with strict hygiene standards, and all the machines are lubricated using vegetable oils instead of industrial oils. Moreover, the United States and the European Union authorised these types of genuine gold leaf for human consumption under food colouring # E175 and the genuine silver leaf under food colouring # E174). Hence, they are called Edible Gold Leafs or Cosmetics Gold Leafs. The leafs are so thin that they will disintegrate in your mouth instantly.
How do you apply the Cosmetics Gold Leaf to the skin?
These cosmetics/edible gold leaves contain no chemicals, vegetal extracts, anti-oxidants, bio-additives, preservatives, or chelating agents.
- Clean your face well with water.
- Apply serum or your favourite skincare product evenly to your face.
- Gently place the gold leaves on your face, which you will then treat with a serum that allows the gold to blend into your skin.
- Cut the gold leaf for ease of use if they are large (it is best to buy small-size leaves for face treatment). Do not touch the gold leaf with your fingers; use a gilder’s tip to pick up the gold leaf.
- After about 10 minutes, apply the serum, wait another 10 minutes and start massaging and gently pressing the gold leaf into your skin.
- Wait about 20 minutes, then clean your face with clean water.
